January – UFOs and mystery quilt introduction

February – Marsha McCain: Join us for an enlightening and refreshing journey into the world of quilting with our special presentation “Come out of the Box in Quilting”. This session is designed for the quilt guild’s talented members who are eager to explore innovative approaches and fresh ideas. In this light and airy atmosphere we will delve into: Creative solutions for problematic fabric, clever uses for panels and border prints, inspirational techniques to bring your unique vision to life. Whether you are a seasoned quilter or just getting started, this presentation promises to be both informative and inspiring.

March – Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum with Scotty McCarthy. Those of you that have attended presentations by Scotty know it will wow you. The trunk show features Blue & White Quilts. Two color quilts are always fun to see - they keep your eyes moving and enjoying the contrasts. But with Quilts there is always more to the story than just the color contrast. Learn fun facts and stories behind the quilts in our education collection that have become part of this Trunk Show. Get insight into our ancestors - who they were, the challenges in their lives, and the importance quilt patterns hold. Enjoy touching these bits of connections to generations past whose stitches and care we relate to and admire.

April – PurpleMooseDesigns: The History of the Sewing Machine, a tale of intrigue and espionage. Not your ordinary history lesson! We will take a look at the more humorous and salacious bits of the past that brought our beloved machines to us today. This program is a PowerPoint presentation along with antique machines and other sewing items from Teri’s personal collection for folks to look at and play with.

April Workshop - Vortex - This is one of those quilts that looks way more complicated than it really is. Strip pieced and cut "just so" to create an optical illusion.

May – Social with a fun activity.

June – Colorado Creations: Color Theory for Quilters If you are intimidated (or just a little scared) of which colors go well together, this is the lecture for you! Whether you prefer pieced or art quilting, you'll leave with confidence in the color choices you make. Through Jackie's Powerpoint presentation, delve into how and why the color wheel should be your best friend; why value is so important; why some colors recede and others come forward; what tints tones, and shades are and how they affect colors and so much more.

Coming Full Circle (workshop) - Solidify your knowledge gained from the lecture by putting this fun improvisational quilt top together! No following a pattern, no sewing machine in class-what more can you look forward to? Join the workshop and see. Bring lots of fabric choices and step out of the box and into circles.
