Guest Speaker, Ricky Tims, will attend the quilt show and present Master Class Lectures. He is known in the international world of quilting as a

best-selling author, enthusiastic and encouraging teacher, and

award-winning quilter. He is also a notable designer

and spellbinding speaker. 

Tickets to the lectures will be sold on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 from 10 am – 4 pm at MillOutlet Fabric Shop, 2906 North Prospect Street in Colorado Springs.

The lectures to be presented are:


LocoMotion - Sun., July 28, 9-10:30 am 

Ricky's method for designing and piecing contemporary quilting designs that feature flowing and swooping curves and often incorporate the element of transparency. The process is precise even though you'll learn a method that doesn't involve accurate quarter- inch seams. $35

 Eleven Cool Things plus Papaw's Choice - Sun., July 28, 4-5:30 pm

The lecture offers an exciting array of methods, surprising techniques, and tips that every quilter

will want to know. It's eye-opening and jaw- dropping! 

Ricky will also include the overview and guidance for making a Papaw's Choice quilt. Learn the heartwarming story of Ricky's dad (a quilter) and this simple but inspiring quilt that is easy and addicting to make. $35

The mission of Quilters Above the Clouds is to aid the community by using the talents of our members to create quilts and related items for those in need. Those items are donated to non-profit agencies throughout Teller and Park Counties. Quilters Above the Clouds is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is promoting an interest in and appreciation of the art of quilting, share quilting information and education, sponsor local and nationally known speakers, and provide workshops to encourage high standards of quilting techniques and designs, encourage creativity, and provide hand-crafted quilts to area non-profit agencies and individuals in need. 

Entry form and fees due JUNE 13, 2024

Quilts eligible for an award must have been completed since June 1, 2022 and not previously entered in a QAC Show.

Each quilt must be contained in a separate pillowcase.

Each quilt must have a hanging sleeve. (finished sleeve size 4- 4 1/2" in width)*

Use a separate form for each entry and COMPLETE BOTH SIDES of form.

Fees must accompany entry form(s). Payment for electronic entries can be accepted via Venmo or Zelle. Contact QAC.Shawn@gmail.com

Late entries will not be accepted.

Display capacity could limit entries. Please submit as early as possible.

A quilt or quilted item is defined as consisting of 3 layers.

The quilt show committee reserves the right to refuse or recategorize entries.

Quilt Entry Category Guidelines

It is the exhibitor’s choice for which category the item is entered.

The categories that have size limits is the only restriction.

Small, Medium and Large Quilt Categories do not distinguish between Bed and Wall - just maximum size

Quilt Categories:

  • Small Quilt (Perimeter maximum 249”)

  • Medium Quilt (Perimeter 250” to 349”)

  • Large Quilt (Perimeter 350” or greater)

  • Art Quilt (Perimeter maximum 300”) These entries feature Animals, Portrait (recognizable human form), Naturescape (an aspect of natural scenery).

  • Potpourri (Quilted fabric item - for example - runner, table topper, candle mat, wearable, practical use item)

  • Appliqué Quilt (Predominantly constructed with hand or machine appliqué techniques)If the item is both pieced and appliqué, it is the exhibitor’s choice for which category to use.

  • Honor Quilt (Patriotic, military, or veteran) no size restriction

  • Modern Quilt (Inspired by modern design - minimalism, asymmetry, negative space, bold fabrics, shapes, abstract images) no size restriction

  • Youth (no entry fee for items made by quilters aged 16 and under)

  • QAC Challenge Quilt (no entry fee - open to guild members only)

  • Angels Challenge Quilt (no entry fee)

  • Vintage and Antique Quilts (25 years or older, not shown in last 5 years) Special Entry Category: No Fee and No Ribbons Awarded.
